A Life of Genuine Humility
In an age where people are conditioned to climb the proverbial ladder of success, Jesus Christ takes the ladder and flips it upside down. In Christ we learn that true success and joy are found in a life of humility.
It is humbling to study this classic passage on the humility of Christ, which some scholars believe was an early hymn of the faith. Words are inadequate to explain the themes of this text dealing with Christ’s preexistence, incarnation, crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension.
In this study, we are commanded to embrace the mind of Christ in living a life of genuine humility. This is contrary to our human nature (Is. 14:12-13a; Gen. 3:4-5).
